What is the minimum / maximum age for using your products?
Our pout Care products have a high natural content and are gentle enough for babies to children of all ages. There is no maximum age – in fact, adults can enjoy our natural products too!

Are the colourings in the products safe?
Yes, we use only food-based colourings from Australia.

Why are pout products made in Australia?
We chose Australia due to its high standards of manufacturing and its care for the environment. All of our products are manufactured in an ISO certified laboratory without any animal products or testing. So you can be assured that the products are safe for your child.

Is the product packaging recyclable?
Yes it is! Please dispose the finished item after use in a recycling container.

Why is it so important for products to be free from sulphates and parabens? What’s the big deal with these ingredients?

Parabens are chemicals that are commonly used to prevent bacteria and act as a preservative in deodorants, lotions, lipsticks, shampoos, scrubs, and more. Parabens are linked to several health concerns including breast cancer and reproductive disorders. While the most common parabens also have “paraben” in their name — butylparaben, methylparaben, and propylparaben — they can also be listed as alkyl parahydroxy benzoates.

Sulphates are cleansing and foaming agents that are frequently found in shampoos and body washes. Some of the most popular products contain sulphates because they help create foam. But this harsh chemical is also linked to skin irritation, hair loss and impaired hair growth. In addition to the health risks, sulphates strip hair and scalp of natural oils, and cause excessive dryness.

While both parabens and sulphates are generally harmless in low concentrations, we understand that parents would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to their children. pout Hair Care substitutes sulphates and parabens with natural plant derivatives that are gentle yet effective. These are safe for your child’s hair and scalp.

Are pout products safe for daily use?
Yes, pout products are perfectly safe and recommended for everyday use. We understand that children have sensitive skin and scalp, so we ensure that pout’s gentle formulations are suitable for children to use daily. We use natural ingredients without any harmful sulphates and parabens to clean and hydrate. We also add a variety of organic plant and flower extracts sourced in Australia, such as Alfafa, Sage and Rosemary, to help enrich and strengthen children’s hair. You’ll find that when used over time, your child’s hair will be softer and more manageable, and will appear shiny and glossy.

Questions on pout Swimmers’ Top-to-Toe

Is this product only suitable for young swimmers?
Our Swimmers’ Top-to-Toe has a high natural content and does not contain any sulphates or parabens. While it is gentle enough for young children, it works equally well on older children and adults. There is no maximum age to use this product.

Does the product just suppress the chlorine smell?
This product does not just suppress the chlorine smell, it is formulated especially to remove chlorine and salt water from hair and skin after swimming. It also cleanses and moisturises naturally, repairing and protecting hair and skin from chlorine and salt water damage.

What effects does chlorine have on hair and skin?
Chlorine is a strong chemical added to swimming pools to kill bacteria. Studies have shown that exposure to chlorinated water can lead to premature aging of skin. It also depletes the hair and skin of natural oils that hold moisture in. This explains why your hair and skin feels dry after swimming due to the chlorine damage. As children’s hair and skin are more delicate and sensitive, prolonged exposure to chlorine can be more damaging.

Can the product be used every day?
Unless your child swims every day, we recommend that you use pout Care’s regular Natural Shampoos for daily use. This product is specifically meant for use after exposure to chlorine & salt water. If your child does not swim often, you may also consider using our Top-to-Toe once every 1 – 2 weeks to deep cleanse the hair and reduce buildup.

Will this product dry the hair (and skin)?
This product is formulated to remove the stubborn chlorine that binds to hair (and skin) after swimming, and therefore is stronger than the regular pout Care Natural Shampoos. It is however, enriched with Panthenol (Vitamin B5) to help hydrate and regenerate hair and skin. Always return moisture to the hair by following up with our Green Apple Whoosh Hydrating Conditioner. 

How much of the product should I use each time?
Use a generous amount with water so that it lathers up well on hair and skin. Rinse off after use.

Do I need this product if my child is already using the Orange Float Sun & Swim Protection? Isn’t that supposed to protect hair from chlorine?
While the Sun & Swim Protection spray creates a protective layer, it will not be a 100% cover, especially since there is a high chance that the product may not be applied evenly to the whole head of hair. Furthermore, the Sun & Swim Protection spray only provides protection for hair and not skin. The Swimmers’ Top-to-Toe is for both hair and skin, and is used after swim to specifically remove the chlorine and salt water that would have gotten on your child’s hair and skin. We recommend using both products for optimal protection.

Does the Detangler only serve to detangle & nothing else?

pout Peaches & Cream Natural Detangler not only helps to release the tangles in your child’s hair, it also helps to keep hair fresh and neat between washes, or after swim or play. This treatment detangler contains Argan oil high in antioxidants, which promotes healthy hair growth and helps treat split ends. It is also formulated with organic Alfalfa, Calendula and Marshmallow root extracts that nourish the scalp and give luster to hair. Your child’s hair will look softer, silkier and more manageable and will have a healthy, attractive shine.

Is pout Peaches & Cream Natural Detangler a leave-in product?

Yes it is. This product can be used on wet or dry hair, and in between washes or after play. The benefit of having a leave-in product is that there is no need to rinse it off and you will be able to see the results instantly.

I am already using pout’s Green Apple Whoosh Hydrating Conditioner. Is it necessary to use the Natural Detangler?

The Natural Detangler keeps hair fresh and neat and is especially useful as a treatment in between washes, or when your child’s hair is tangled after play or upon waking up. It can be used on dry hair, and is convenient as it is a leave-in product. Swimmers will love how this product instantaneously detangles post-swim hair.

What is the difference between the Citrus Serenade Natural Hair & Body Wash and the Grapefruit Island Swimmers’ Top-to-Toe?

The Citrus Serenade is a 2-in-1 hair and body wash that was developed for daily, regular use. The Grapefruit Island Swimmers’ Top-to-Toe is specially formulated to remove chlorine and salt from hair and body after swimming.

Does my child still need to use the conditioner for her hair after using this product?

The hair & body wash does contain ingredients like Rosemary to help increase the manageability and shine of the hair. However, you should always nourish and return moisture to the hair with a conditioner regularly. How often you use the conditioner depends on your child’s hair type, texture and length. Other factors to consider would be if the hair is exposed to sun, wind or other harsh elements daily. If your child’s hair is long, dry and easily knotted, or if it is exposed to external elements often, using the conditioner more frequently will help to hydrate and nourish the hair. Can the Citrus Serenade be used for babies?

Yes this product is ideal for babies who do not have much hair or the need for a separate shampoo. It has a light citrus scent with no sulphates or colourings and is gentle enough for use on babies. If you find the product too thick for direct application on babies, dilute with water before applying, then gently rinse off. Adults can also use this product to enjoy the natural ingredients!

Should I still buy your shampoos if I use this hair & body wash product?

Whilst the Citrus Serenade combines the dual functions of cleansing hair and body into one product, our hair and skin have different needs. We recommend still using a dedicated shampoo such as pout Care’s Natural Shampoo that is formulated specifically to cleanse and nourish the hair.
